About Locking
Is Your Hair Nappy?
Nappy Natural (Chemical Free) hair is the best way to start healthy locks...
What type of locks are best for you?
Organic Locks (DreadLocks) happen on their own and does not require a specific regimen for care or maintenance. The hair is kept clean by washing it and drying the hair in a circular motion. The locks develop in clusters and may appear to have different sizes, lengths and shapes as they grow.
Cultivated Locks (Salon Locks) are created by an experienced natural hair care provider and may require scheduled visits to predetermine the size and shape of the lock as they develop. Salon locks are more uniform in appearance and requires washing, twisting and palm rolling as a method of maintenance.
SisterLocks™ is a natural hair management system that allows individuals with tightly textured hair to take advantage of a wide range of today's hairstyles without having to alter the natural texture of their hair. More Details
Decide which transitioning method is best for you.
Transitioning from Permed Hair to Chemical Free and Happy to be Nappy Hair requires patience and time. There are several different methods to which this goal can be achieved. All involve a time factor. Some can take as little as 10 minutes, while others can take as long as 2 or more years. It depends on what you are comfortable with.
Cutting and/or Shaving your head is obviously the fastest way to begin growing healthy chemical free hair. This method obviously takes 10 minutes and some courage.
Growing out of your perm or chemical can take a whole lot longer. Growing your hair from this point out without touching up your perm can be a test of your patience and time. Some people choose to camouflage their transitioning by wearing braids or weaves until there is enough new growth to cut off the chemically processed hair to a comfortable length.
